Maytown Center
How is the Maytown Center funded?

We operate on donations from individuals ($25,000 in 2004) and from revenue generated by programs (i.e. basketball, facility rentals, activities, housing work groups) ($16,000 in 2004).

Is it part of the Christian Appalachian Project, Catholic Church...?

No, we are part of Schools Our Us, a very small and new non-profit that includes the Maytown Center and a center in Auxier.

This means that donations to the Maytown Center are tax-deductible.

Is the Maytown Center a Christian organization?

We are a faith based organization.  Our belief is to offer the hope of Jesus and fullness of life He came to offer (mind, body & spirit).   We try to do that through programs and teaching oportunities.  We believe the best way is to hold out truth, like shining stars, and peolpe will be drawn.

Who owns the Maytown Center property?

Schools Our Us.  Our hope is to one day become incorporated as simply the Maytown Center.  At that point it would be owned by the community.

How are monies used?

Income goes to pay operating expenses of the 3 large buildings, 2 staff homes, repairs, programs, and four staff.

How much does it cost to operate the Maytown Center?

The expenses for the center in 2004 were $38,000.   We are able to operate on that little because of the many hours people volunteer and many donated items.

How can I get involved?

Pray. For direction. For workers.  For the community.  For funds.  The need is great.  It is only with God's vision and provision that we survive.

Volunteer. Share your gifts and talents.  If you live locally, there is an ongoing need for people to help.  If you live away, come share a week, a month or year with us!

Support Financially. The revenue from programs and facility use does not cover expenses.  We rely on the kind donations of time, talents and resources.
